As a result, the early stretch cars were referred to as “big band buses”.

By the 1940s “Airporter Stretch Coaches” were being manufactured and used throughout the US for sightseeing purposes and as a form of transportation from hotel to airport. Similarly the limousine was beginning to be regarded as a status symbol thereby making it desirable for all the Hollywood actors and actresses.
